International Association of Mental Health in Sport is an independent, voluntary, non-profit and independent association of societies that unites, includes and connects the membership with the aim of education, improvement and training in the field of mental health in sport with the methods of psychotherapy, psychology, counselling and coaching . The operation is public, voluntary and based on the equality of membership.
Purpose of the Association:
The purpose of the association is to develop, promote, and recognize the importance of mental health through methods of psychotherapy, sports psychotherapy, psychological, counselling and coaching, which it will accomplish through networking and collaboration.
Primary Activity of the Association:
The primary activity of the association is the networking and uniting of societies, informing the public about mental health in sports and in general, exchanging experiences among members, and collaborating with national, foreign, and international associations and organizations in relevant fields.
The goals of the Association are:
• connecting various approaches to improve overall health and mental health in sports;
• uniting organizations involved in mental health in sports through their activities, studies, or other associations;
• developing character virtues among members, such as creativity, a sense of community work, discipline, and self-criticism;
• ensuring quality preparation of athletes and fostering a spirit of "fair play" among members;
• striving to prevent the onset and progression of sports-related illnesses and injuries;
• mutual information-sharing, addressing, and solving current issues and other relevant questions;
• organizing educational content related to mental health in sports;
• raising awareness about the importance of mental health in sports;
• providing professional knowledge, experience, and expanded competencies in the field of mental health in sports;
• informing the public about the work of the association, professional achievements, identified issues, and the current societal context;
• creating conditions for professional operations.
The Association primarily carries out the following tasks:
• promotes its activities among members and other interested parties;
• alerts relevant national, local, or international authorities or other competent institutions to issues of mental health in sports, counseling, and other open questions of members to strengthen mental health;
• organizes events for its members and other interested parties;
• collaborates with similar organizations;
• creates conditions and encourages members for professional development, experience sharing, and cooperation;
• works with experts in the Association’s fields who can contribute to the development of mental health in sports;
• researches mental health in sports using various methods and approaches;
• assists and represents members in asserting their professional rights and interests;
• organizes events related to the Association’s activities.
Conditions for Joining the Association:
A written application for membership in the Association must include:
• a copy of a certificate from the relevant authority confirming registration as a legal entity;
• a signed declaration agreeing to the statutes and other acts of the Association;
• information about the legal representative;
• appointment of an authorized person for activities within the Association;
• a recommendation or direct invitation from an existing member of the Association.
The Association's Board of Directors verifies whether all membership conditions are met. A membership candidacy is established upon submission of all required documents, with the candidate agreeing to act in accordance with the statutes and other acts of the Association. Official membership is granted on the date of the Board's decision and upon payment of the annual membership fee. By paying the fee, a new member gains full rights to submit proposals, participate in discussions, and vote at general assembly meetings.
Funding of the Association:
• through membership fees;
• from material rights and the Association's primary and gainful activities;
• through gifts and bequests;
• with contributions from donors, sponsors, and patrons;
• from public funds;
• from other sources.
